Typostrate video wednesday 15
Type is power and that’s why Ben Barrett-Forrest made a paper-letter animation about the history of fonts and typography. Published by dezeen on vimeo, we love the stop motion ideas. His hands are the animating part, beginning from blackletter, to roman scripts, to grotesques and finally to helvetica and display fonts. Everything is included and the main fonts of that time such as Caslon, Baskerville, Gill Sans and Helvetica are included. Enjoy the video!
“The evolution of [Stana] escalated when we were in New York and it was you [Nathan] and her in the offices and we did the scene where you [Nathan acting as Castle] guess who she is. The first time we heard it, the scene was “oh I’ll just take a wild guess” and he’s kinda goofing around, Castle is. He starts to talk about something that happened and I’m loving Nathan. This is gonna be great you know, I got the best guy in town and he’s great to be with and I look to Stana and she’s gone inside and the eyes are watering. And I’m like ‘what is that? what is happening?’ There’s something, he’s hit something. But this is like one night we’re just hanging out at the office we’re not even shooting yet. She went from long and beautiful runway model to somebody who clearly had a lot more going on than I expected. And I remember from our first interrogation scene when she comes in … she didn’t blink. This is not rookie stuff. Some people have had twenty, thirty years more experience. I think in 1x02 there was an actress who probably had twenty, thirty years experience and Stana made her blink.”— Rob Bowman
